Spain property outlook

If you're intending to buy Spanish property mainly for investment purposes you may be deterred by constant gloomy predictions about an imminent price crash that will leave the country's housing industry in a state of crisis. These black forecasts have been around for some time but fortunately for property owners, the bubble hasn't burst yet and experts now believe prices are likely to stabilise rather than plummet.

The Spanish property market is still experiencing a boom in foreign investment. With property prices in some areas in Spain increasing at approximately 255% per year, the market is experiencing a rush of foreign investors, primarily from the UK and Ireland. More and more people are buying a second home or investment, enjoying an escape from the UK for a few weeks of the year and renting their property in Spain for the remainder.

There are Spanish property bargains to be found in the coastal regions with an estimated 180,000 homes being built this year and a booming buy-to-let market making coastal property a very attractive investment. With property prices rising and abundance of people looking to rent property for family vacations, golfing holidays and job placements, it certainly appears that property in Spain is a safe and wise investment.

Stock market predictions have provided a very rough ride and in the worst case scenario, people have lost virtually all their money. Investing in property on the other hand is always a pretty solid bet and not nearly so volatile. As a general rule, property prices may at times fall in difficult markets but the long term prospects are always upwards. The Spanish property market is buoyant as ever with high supply and demand.
