About Turkey

Europe property market - Turkey

Turkey is located at a point where the three continents of the old world (Asia, Africa, and Europe) are closest to each other and where Asia and Europe meet. Because of its geographical location, Turkey has always been important throughout history and is the birth place of many great civilizations. It is a spectacular country, with more than 300 natural and 130 artificial lakes, and almost 35% of its lands covered by forests and mountains.

With a population of around 65 million, Turkey covers an area of around 800,000 sq km and is surrounded by no less than four seas: the Mediterranean in the south, the Aegean Sea in the west, the Marmara Sea to the northwest and the Black Sea to the north. So it's no wonder that it boasts a coastline stretching over 8,333 km.

The climate ranges from temperate in the Black Sea region, continental in the interior, to Mediterranean on the Aegean and Mediterranean coastal regions. Abundant in flora and fauna, it offers a wide-ranging and absorbing variety of landscapes. You can stroll along golden palm-fringed beaches, sail in the morning, ski in the afternoon, and discover rivers, lakes, secret coves and plains.

The mountainous regions extend from the Pontic Mountains along the Black Sea to the Taurus Mountains bordering the Mediterranean in the south. Mount Ararat, where Noah's Ark is said to have come to rest, lies in the east and is set 5,137m above sea level.

Shrouded in history, Turkey has been called "the cradle of civilization" and is often referred to as ANATOLIA, which in ancient Greek means "The land where the sun rises from".

Aside from its natural wonders, Turkey is a thriving, bustling, and energetic modern country. Its cosmopolitan cities are filled with dazzling marinas, first class hotels and restaurants, and nightclubs which are open throughout the night. Wonderful climate, friendly and hospitable people, world class cuisine, every kind of sport and leisure activity, great service and reasonable prices makes Turkey just about the perfect place to visit, holiday in or live all year round. And best of all, it's no further than other popular Mediterranean destinations, being only 3.5 hours flight from London.

Over the past couple of years, the country has opened its doors by introducing new laws that allow foreigners to buy property in Turkey. This has added to the attraction and has helped make it a major tourist destination in Europe. With the rapid development of both summer and winter resorts, more and more people from around the world can now enjoy the history, culture, and beautiful sites of Turkey. From swimming in the Mediterranean to skiing in Uludag, Turkey has something to offer everyone.
